AFCAT 2022: syllabus & selection criteria

AFCAT stands for Air Force Common Admission Test. It is conducted by the Indian Air Force for the selection of suitable candidates into Flying (Short Service Commission only), Technical (Permanent and Short Service Commission), and Ground Duty (Permanent and Short Service Commission) Branches.

The AFCAT exam is held twice a year, and the purpose of this exam is to evaluate candidates for their understanding of concepts and their intelligence. IAF conducted the AFCAT 2 2021 and EKT exam on August 28-30, 2021.

The notification for AFCAT 1 2022 will be announced between December 2021 and January 2022, and it will be notified on the Indian Air Force’s official website. Interested candidates must apply online at the official website before the deadline.

AFCAT Pattern

The AFCAT Exam is taken in an online mode. The total number of questions asked in the AFCAT exam is 100 holding a weightage of 300 marks. The time limit given to the aspirants to complete their exam is 2 hours (120 minutes). The sections asked in this paper consist of General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning, and Military Aptitude Test.

Candidates are to get three marks for every correct answer while they will lose 1 mark for each incorrect option. Fortunately, no marks will be deducted for questions left unanswered.

Syllabus: Topics covered

This section is included to test the candidate’s general knowledge and questions related to current events in different fields. Almost all questions are asked in this section from some of the important topics mentioned below:

Verbal Ability in English

Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test

Through this section, the candidate’s mental and military aptitude gets tested. The difficulty level is moderate and almost 35 questions are asked from this section. Some of the important topics asked in the exam include:
