Leading online matrimony service, BharatMatrimony’s Online Matrimony Trends Report 2020 reveals that even COVID-19 could not stop ready-to-marry singles, both girls and guys, from connecting digitally and pursuing their conversations in search of a life partner.
A key trend that the BharatMatrimony’s report revealed is that singles are increasingly making the decision to search for a life partner on their own, with more than 70% of the nearly 4 Million singles self-registering. Top 5 cities in terms of registration by singles were Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai.
The location did not seem to be very important as 77% of men and 80% of women were perfectly fine with finding a life partner settled in any location within India or overseas.
30% spike in women making the first move
Women have been increasingly taking the marriage decision into their hands as can be seen from the fact that the active expression of interest to male members saw an amazing 30% increase. There’s also been a 24% increase in acceptance of interest from male members.
During the pandemic, women engagement on the BharatMatrimony app jumped by 59%.
BharatMatrimony’s phenomenal growth during Covid
During Covid, while the member registrations grew across India, North India saw women members growing at 75% while the male members grew by over 100% as compared to the same time previous year.
