Capt Abhilasha Barak – 1st woman combat aviator to join Army Aviation Corps

Capt Abhilasha Barak became the first woman officer in history to join the Army Aviation Corps as a Combat Aviator after completion of training.

Capt Abhilasha was awarded the coveted flying wings along with 36 Army Pilots by Director General and Colonel Commandant Army Aviation Lt Gen A.K. Suri.

According to a Defence Ministry communique, about 15 women offered to join the Army Aviation Corps but only two were found fit to do so after pilot aptitude battery test and medical.
