Within the infantry, Gorkha Rifles has contributed 4 chiefs while Gen Manoj Mukund Naravane is the 3rd officer from the Sikh Light Infantry to become COAS of the Indian Army including Gen. V. P. Malik and Gen. Bikram Singh.
