A Yogic Revolution

A recent headline made by a foreign daily newspaper saying that ‘We can create babies without men, claim scientists’ has created a mass frenzy in society. According to the discovery made by researchers from the Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Genetics in Los Angeles, the process involves a cocktail of chemicals acting as an artificial sperm to trick a female egg (ovum) into forming an embryo thereby helping women to have babies without male sperm.

This pathbreaking research has now opened up a lot of opportunities for women who want to experience motherhood without any kind of dependency on men. It has also raised a valid argument made by our Sages & Saints over centuries that ‘human reproduction was done by means of Yoga’. Well!! on hearing this, majority of us who are living in an age of unrighteousness, discord & dismay would laugh out loud rather than ponder deep over this subject.  It has been clearly explained in our Vedas, Upanishads, and Puranas that human birth in ancient times was by means of Yoga.

This is because people in that age i.e Golden Age (Satyuga) possessed this power to reproduce as they were by their very nature religious, righteous and most importantly soul conscious. Acharya Charak says in his book Charak Pratisanskrita that in very ancient times, prowess, might brilliance and divinity were pre-eminently powerful, hence it is clear that all the scriptures and other holy books are unanimous in the truths they have expounded. It must be noted that health of the body & mind and reproduction by means of Yoga and mental power took place because they were high enough to bring man into being without recourse to coitus, as it is done today. With the passing of golden era to silver, copper, and iron i.e today the method of coitus came in place of Yoga as man’s prowess, strength, manhood life, etc.. got diluted with each passing age.

In our quest to seek deep knowledge about religion & spirituality, most of us might have heard this from our Guru’s, Religious Preachers and learned people that in golden age reproduction took place in the swan’s way, in silver age it took place in peacock’s way, in copper age it took place in horse’s or buffalo’s way & lastly in iron age in the way of dog getting his brood. Now, this does not mean that man does have sex in the way these animals/creatures have, it is a metaphorical way of stating the fact that at the beginning of world cycle, there was holiness in man and wife relationship. In the sphere of yoga, the highest state is expressed by reference to the swan or param hamsa.

Hence in ancient times, people believed that birth took place by the dint of Yoga and not coitus. However, in spite of all the above-mentioned facts, the generation of today would pose a question that if at all this is all true, then it should also happen in present times? can’t it happen today? Well!! before posing this question, such people should understand that our bodies in present times are made of elements in their degenerated state. Disease, sorrow, anxiety, discontent, and malice have affected various glands and parts of our bodies from the time of its birth and even before that. Through the eyes, one sees evil things, hears what one should not hear, in short, every sense organ of ours is overpowered with unholy excitements.

All these things make it clear that as of today the whole of the atmosphere is polluted and the elements also are overcast and no one is completely healthy and righteous. Hence, it is in no way possible to reproduce by means of yogic power, But!! But !! this does not in any way indicate that this thesis of reproduction by yoga need not be believed. As the same is being said by the evolutionists and scientists that, at the beginning of the world cycle, the matter had been turned into protoplasm by the action of sun rays. But, they further say that the atmosphere today is not suited to produce the same results now. So does that mean that they are wrong in their belief & research? Not really!

There is no doubt that if men & women practiced yoga along with observance of purity (celibacy), the whole of the present structure of sensuality will then be toppled down. So let us make a strong resolve to be holy & yogi and usher in the new age where each one of us would be healthy, happy and wealthy.
