Acting on a specific tip-off a joint team comprising officers of Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI), Ahmedabad and the Central GST Kanpur branch searched the factory premises of M/s Trimurti Fragrance Pvt Ltd Kanpur – the manufacturer of Shikhar Pan Masala and its transporter M/s Ganpati Road Carriers.
The team had specific information that the manufacturers of Shikhar Pan Masala and tobacco products were clandestinely supplying goods without payment of applicable tax while the transporter was reportedly supplying truckloads of goods to non-existent firms on the basis of fake invoices below Rs 50,000/- to avoid the generation of E-way Bills. The transporter was also collecting the sale proceeds of the clandestine supply in cash and handing it over to the manufacturer, after deducting his commission.
The officers conducting the search seized four trucks outside the factory premises. The fully loaded trucks couldn’t produce an invoice and E-way Bills issued by the factory, which confirmed the contents of intelligence.
A search of the factory premises revealed a discrepancy between the amount of raw materials stored and finished products which clearly showed that the finished goods were being sold clandestinely. This was verified by the company officials who admitted that the finished goods were being moved out without paying GST.

Similarly, the raid in the premises of M/s Ganpati Road Carriers the transporter revealed more than 200 fake invoices used for transportation of goods without payment of GST in the past. The transporter also admitted that goods were being transported without e-way bills under the cover of fake invoices and the sale proceeds collected in cash was being handed over to the manufacturer. An amount of Rs 1.01 crores in cash was seized from the possession of the transporter.
Likewise, a search was conducted at the residential premises of the partners of M/s Odochem Industries who were supplying perfumery compounds. It was suspected that the sale proceeds in cash were secreted in the premises.
During the search huge amount of cash, wrapped in paper was found. To physically count the cash the search party had to seek the help of officials of the State Bank of India Kanpur. The counting process took nearly two days and an amount in excess of Rs 150 crores is expected to be recovered.
Further investigations are on and necessary follow up action in the ongoing investigation of sensitive nature is being organized.
