NTPC, a Maharatna Company under the Ministry of Power, has signed a MoU, to build up the skills of 25000 persons in service and manufacturing related sectors in the underserved areas in Bihar as part of its corporate social responsibility.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Union Minister of State (IC) for Power Piyush Goyal and Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (IC) Rajiv Pratap Rudy.
As part of the agreement NTPC will contribute its CSR funds towards a project for skill building of 25000 persons. The programs will be aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) according to knowledge, skill and aptitude.
The tripartite MoU was signed by Jyotna Sitling, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India (NSDF), U.P. Pani Director (HR), NTPC and Dilip H Chenoy, MD & CEO, NSDC. Dr Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD NTPC was also present.
This is the second MOU NTPC has signed with the National Skill Development Fund (NSDF) and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) within a span of two months.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of State (IC) for Power Piyush Goyal said, “We are committed to the people of our country. Skilled workforce is the backbone for every industry as we cannot progress until unless we have skilled workforce. I would like to congratulate Rudy on the kind of work his ministry is doing. We expect his ministry to work at the grass-root level and polish all the talent in the country to be job ready for not only industries under my ministry but across sectors. We collectively want to set an example for others to follow through this MoU”.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (IC) Rajiv Pratap Rudy said, “It gives me immense pleasure to see how big organizations are coming up to support the skill initiative in the country and thus aiding in the achievement of our Prime Minister’s vision of a Skilled India. Agreements like these will empower the youth and make them employment ready. I would also like to thank my colleague Piyush Goyal for coming forward and recognizing the importance of a skilled workforce in the country”.
According to the agreement, NSDC through its Approved Training Partners will facilitate providing quality training and placement to the trainees through its Training Partner network, with focus on self-employment related training where relevant.
