How to recharge yourself during time off?

We all have different personality types and different ways to perceive and connect to the world. Some like to read books, some like to jog, party or watch TV in their free time. But one thing common in each of us is, we all need our personal space to recharge & refresh ourselves for a brand-new day. Isn’t it? So how do we do that? Surely there isn’t a chart or rule to be followed for each personality type. But there are a few tips we can give you. While many might not work for you, a few may fit you perfectly! We give you here, proven scientific ways to recharge yourself and re-boost your energy.

1. Take a warm bath

This might sound ridiculous to you; you might say you do it every day of course and nothing really changes. But did you know, it is scientifically proven that when we take a warm bath our muscles relax and our memory grows stronger? You remember things better and that relaxation releases a certain amount of dopamine into your body to give you an instant emotional boost. So go ahead and take that warm shower today! But also, be mindful to not waste too much water!

2. Create a vocation ritual

Besides your work what is it that really amuses you? Think of it, you’d know better for yourself. In your busy schedule you might think it’s not possible for you to take out some time for your hobbies or liking but pursuing something that you are passionate about alongside your job saves you from going to the stage of burnout. At the end of the day, your work is what feeds your stomach, but passion is what feeds your soul.

3. Stretch

We are not asking you to hit the gym for an hour after a long draining day at work. But stretching your body simply for 10 minutes without a definite fitness goal in mind helps you heal and relax faster. Stretching relaxes your body & brain muscles and helps you get healthier. The emotional frustration you’ve been feeling after a long day might not be an emotional issue, it might just be that your muscles didn’t get much movement throughout the day due to sitting at your desk for long hours and now they’re sending mixed signals to the body. Don’t believe us? Try it yourself.

4. Prepare

Prepare your mind and body for the next day, this could be anything to your liking. You’re burnt out because you’ve faced something you didn’t have the energy to. So, knowing that there’ll be similar and even harder days is the key towards preparing your mind for the upcoming and preparing yourself for the challenges that are on. Start your day with meditation, by setting intentions for the whole day. It helps you see the new day from a positive perspective and gives you the mental strength to move along.

5. Go on a date

The best way to refresh your mind is pouring your heart out with all its worries, heaviness and sorrow. Having a person who listens to you no matter what and understands you thoroughly can save you on your bad days. This doesn’t necessarily have to be a love interest, your date can be with your father or mother or your puppy, and you can even go on a date with just yourself alone. So, go on a date and if that isn’t working out, buy yourself some dates! But include that date. It’ll give you an emotional lift and a sense of comfort.

6. Take a quick nap

Sometimes the solution to the most complex issues in life is a quick nap. It won’t sound bogus or illogical to you when you’ll know its benefits. We’re biologically designed to sleep long hours at night and for short rests in the middle of the day. Research suggests naps help improve emotional regulation, increase your ability to tolerate life stressors better and reduce the chances of being impulsive. A short nap can elevate your mood better than you’ve imagined.

7. ‘Give me some rays’

Nature has its own ways of contributing to our daily lives and well-being. That’s why there’s something called ‘Nature therapy’ too. Viewing scenes of nature reduces anger, frustration, stress, and fear and increases feelings of pleasantness. One of the most significant physical struggles in our world today is obesity, which is affecting our mental well-being too. Study shows people who take a walk outdoors are less likely to suffer from obesity and related conditions. So in short, nature keeps you whole and fit and fine.
