Play the game of life with courage

cricket

The game of cricket is a religion for people in India and it can be literally seen and experienced when all roads are empty and everyone is literally glued to their television sets or radio transistors when an important match is going on. But have we ever thought about the similarities between cricket and our real life? Maybe not!!  Because for many of us life is not as thrilling as the game of cricket isn’t it? Well!! To begin with, we all know that every spectator, whether in the stadium or at home, he/she just loves to watch a six or a boundary.

Every time these two magnificent shots are hit by any player, there is a huge roar and celebration in the stadium. In both the cases, runs are added to the scoreboard without any laborious effort of running between the wickets by the batsman. However not all the batsmen have the courage to hit a six or boundary every now and then, because for that one needs extraordinary skills as well as a focused mind? At the same time, we have also seen many times that an extraordinary player gets out by playing a silly shot and breaks a million hearts. Now!! let us take the case of our real life, where we get to see people who are always nervous and on the back foot while leading their lives & then there is also another kind of people who are always on the front foot & ever ready for life to unfold itself to them.

Of both the cases, the former kind of people always ends up leading a miserable life because the constant worry of the next moment drains away their will power to take bold steps in life as a result of which they always receive happiness in interludes after laboriously working for it. They lose sight of the fact that they can take a high jump over their problems.

Instead, they keep hitting hard against them, getting hurt and losing heart. As they continue to apply this formula to every task, they become an embodiment of problems rather than an embodiment of solutions. In short, they keep on playing defensive all the time and their strokes are shaky due to which they see every ball of ‘opportunity to make runs’ as the bowler’s ‘conspiracy to bowl them out ‘ thus surviving only on singles and doubles all their lives.

On the other hand, if the same players put greater power of self-belief in their strokes, they might just pleasantly surprise themselves to discover their ability to sweep the ball across the boundary. This can be achieved by having self-belief that life is a game which has to be played with perpetual enthusiasm in order to cross the hurdles easily.

With this strong self-belief, all the hurdles then become a side scene for them, as they would be eyeing the destination and not the obstacles, thereby realizing that bouncing back to life with boundaries & sixes is much more fun than struggling with singles and doubles. So, let’s be courageous enough and move forward with big shots and wait for life to give you more. But!! Do not lose focus and end up getting out playing a silly shot.
