M G Devasahayam, IAS (Retd)

M.G. Devasahayam, IAS (Retd) has worn many hats. Prior to joining IAS he was Commissioned in The Madras Regiment of the Indian Army and participated in the Indo-Pak War (1965) as well as Counter-Insurgency operations in Nagaland (1967-68) before quitting as a Major to join the IAS. He was allocated IAS1964 batch, Haryana Cadre because of his Army seniority though he trained with the 1968 batch. His first posting as a Civil Servant saw him raise a new District (Bhiwani) as its first DC. He held many senior positions in government including District Collector/Magistrate of two Districts. He finally took VRS and retired as Secretary to the Government of Haryana. He is now Chairman of People-First. The views expressed are his own.
