The ‘Foundation Day’ of Asset Management Society India (AMSI) was celebrated online recently. Arun Ramchandani Executive Vice President, Larsen, and Toubro (Defence and Aerospace) was the Chief Guest. Ramchandani joined L&T as a Graduate Engineer in 1984 after completing his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Delhi. He started his career in R&D at L&T and went on to head the R&D for L&T Defence before taking on his current assignment as Executive Vice President, Defence & Aerospace. While working at L&T, he has received specialized management training through programs in Technology Management & Global Leadership from ASCI, Manchester Business School, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, and Insead, France.
He was very appreciative of the initiative taken to form the Asset Management Society and stressed the importance of assets and how they can be managed better in the rural sector with the help of the expertise available to the society.
Pankaj Satija Managing Director, Tata Steel Mining Limited was the guest of Honour for the foundation day. He leads the commercial mining and ferroalloys business, covering the full mining value chain and serving domestic and international customers. He has more than 27 years of experience in Strategic Planning, Project Management, Mine Planning, Mining Operations, Training, Production, and Maintenance. A graduate mining engineer from IIT(ISM), Dhanbad with PGDBM from XLRI, Pankaj Satija has blended mining operations with a framework of Safety, Health, and Environment. A PMP-certified professional has undergone the Indo-German Manager Programme in Germany, Global Advance Management Programme in Beijing, and the Tata Group Executive Leadership Development Program in the UK. He has received several awards for his dedicated and unstinted work in the mining and related sectors. He has been associated with professional bodies and has numerous papers in National and International Journals to his credit.
Prof Khanindra Pathak, Dean (Infrastructure), IIT Kharagpur and Senior Vice President AMSI, welcomed the gathering, Dr. Binu K G, Associate Professor, St Joseph’s College Mangalore and Treasurer, AMSI introduced the team AMSI, Amit Kapur, Director, Everest Group and Vice President AMSI, presented the vision, mission of AMSI and the activities during the year 2022.
Lt General Anil Kapoor (retd.) Chair, National Advisory Committee, AMSI, introduced the chief guest and presented the strategic directions for AMSI during the year 2023. Dr. H K Misra, Professor, IRMA Anand Gujarat and Joint Secretary, AMSI, presented a report of the International Conference on Maintenance and Intelligent Asset Management, 2022 (ICMIAM2022), jointly organized with various universities and industries from India and abroad.
Dr. Girish H. MIT Manipal introduced the guest of honor.
Prof Raghuvir Pai, MIT Manipal delivered the presidential address, highlighting the activities of AMSI during 2022 and future activities.
Dr. Gopinath Chattopadhyay, Federation University Australia, and Chair of, the International Advisory Committee, provided a glimpse of the international collaborations and the venue of the next ICMIAM 2023 conference. ICMIAM2023 will be organized by Federation University, Ballarat Australia.
